Born in Whitechapel in the overcrowded slum of Prescot Street, Rafe is the bastard son of an unknown punter and a prostitute whose name he refuses to speak to this day. He began his life of crime early, serving as a lookout for a local youth gang at the age of five and graduating up to pickpocketing, confidence games, breaking and entering, extortion and intimidation, and many other sordid affairs. He used his good looks shamelessly to get away with many things he shouldn't have. When he was in his mid-twenties, he attempted to pickpocket a vampire masquerading as a physician. Had he succeeded, he'd likely have lived a short, brutal life and died an unremarkable, ignominious death. The vampire, going by Nathaniel Sharpe at that time, saw use in him and made him his ghoul. He has traveled with him ever since, sometimes by choice, sometimes not. He has lived in America since 1851 and now speaks with a fairly neutral accent and whatever slang matches the region where he lives.

First impressions.

Visual. Rafe is 5'5" but extremely compact and built. He moves like a brawler.

Fashion. He favors jeans, t-shirts, and biker boots.

Demeanor. He's a consummate chameleon who can go from zero to a hundred in a snap.

Aural. His voice has a harsh quality, raspy and deep.
